Self-Manager Program (Ages 9–12)
HFAC’s Self Manager program helps young members build independence, responsibility, and confidence throughout the club. Designed for kids ages 9-12, this program introduces club policies, teaches respectful facility use, and encourages self-directed activity. To become a Self Manager, both the Jr. Member and a parent/guardian must attend a Self Manager class together and pass a short multiple-choice and short-answer test. Once completed, the Jr. Member earns a green wristband and Self Manager status is added to their account for easy check-in. Self Manager Privileges:- Run on the track independently
- Use the basketball and squash courts independently, including checking out equipment from the front desk
- Participate in climbing during Open Climb hours with a belayer present
- Use the lobby and café areas respectfully for activities like watching TV or doing homework
- Charge items to their membership account (primary account holder is responsible for all charges)
- A parent or guardian must attend the Self Manager class with their child, as they play a key role in reinforcing club rules and expectations.
- A parent/guardian must check in with the Self Manager at the front desk and remain on HFAC property while their child is using the facilities.
- Self Managers are expected to behave respectfully and responsibly at all times. Misuse of privileges may result in suspension of Self Manager status.
- The club cannot mediate disputes between family members over account charges.
